INTERESTING COMMENTS ON ATRIOS'S BLOG CONCERNING ISRAEL; HERE'S ONE INTERESTING ONE...
Remember Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat shaking hands in the embrace of Bill Clinton?
Kinda different now. The "conservatives" are in power.
A right-wing religous fanatic kills Rabin. Right-wing war criminal Sharon provokes Palestinians with a pre-announced visit to the Temple Mount. Right-wing war criminal Sharon gets elected amongst the following predictable violence. On a "security" platform.
Right-wing war criminal Sharon attacks the civilian Palestinian population, targeting water supplies and police stations. The ensuing anarchy favors right-wing Palestinians and creates a buyers market for suicide bombers.
Palestinians attack Isrealis, Isrealis retaliate, repeat.
Sharon benefits. Congrats, AS. 1000s of dead people don't complain, can't vote.
KRUGMAN ON WASHINGTON'S FANATICAL RULING PARTY
Paul Krugman Writes:
Last year I tried to illustrate just how far to the right America's ruling party has moved by quoting some of Representative Tom DeLay's past remarks. I got some puzzling responses. "Who cares what some crazy guy in Congress says?" wrote one liberal economist, chiding me for being alarmist.
Some crazy guy? Public images are funny things. Newt Gingrich became a famous symbol of Republican radicalism. By contrast, most people know little about Mr. DeLay, the House majority leader. Yet Mr. DeLay is more radical — and more powerful — than Mr. Gingrich ever was.
Maybe Mr. DeLay's public profile will be raised by his success yesterday in sabotaging tax credits for 12 million children. Those tax credits would cost only $3.5 billion. But Mr. DeLay has embedded the credits in an $82 billion tax cut package. That is, he wants to extort $22 in tax cuts (in the face of record budget deficits) for every dollar given to poor children.
I think there is an outrage vacuum in this country that is starting to be filled slowly by the Paul Krugmans of the world. The problem is that liberals do not have enough numbers or appeal to take out Furious George. So what do we do? We have to find moderates who are atleast moderately pissed off that Bush is a con man. These are the people we need to ally with, find, mobilize and make comfortable in our settings, in our forums and on our side.

REPUBLICANS ARE MAKING SURE TAX CUTS FOR THE WORKING CLASS STAY NON-EXISTENT
"If they want the child tax credit, they ought to be able to have it in a package that actually creates jobs and helps the economy grow," said DeLay, R-Texas. He said the expanded Senate bill will come before the House on Thursday. After passage, it would have to return to the Senate.
This guy never ceases fighting on behalf of the rich, even when Furious George is willing to throw working peeps a bone...
"The president thinks it's a good idea to pass the legislation," said spokeswoman Claire Buchan.
Remeber why the liberals have been pushing this relief for the working the class?
The uproar over the child tax credit started only after Bush signed the $330 billion tax cut on May 28. That law delivers advance refunds with up to $400 per child this summer to middle-income families. Families that earn between $10,500 and less than $27,000 were cut out of the payments because their tax level is too low to qualify.
The omission provoked an outcry from Democrats and community groups. The Children's Defense Fund plans to march hundreds of mothers pushing children in strollers to DeLay's office on Thursday to pressure him to put child credit legislation on the floor.

HMM... INTERESTING THING TO KNOW THE NEXT TIME THE REPUBLICAN 'CHRISTIANS' TALK ABOUT 'JUDEO-CHRISTIAN VALUES'
The term "Judeo-Christian" was invented during World War II, when Christians started realizing how rude it was to rail against the Nazis for violating "Christian decency" since so many of the Nazi victims were Jewish. It was a superficial attempt to appear diverse and inclusive. Usually when I see the term used, the author actually is only talking about Christianity, and thus denies the truly different nature of Judaism.
The term Judeo-Christian does not have a lengthy history...
