RICARDO THE MARTIAN WRITES: DEFINING A REPUBLICAN PART 1: HEALTHCARE
I am on an intergalactic mission from Mars, and mY mission is to define "Republican (WREEEEE--PUB--LICK--CAHHN)." I am told that this specific earthling subspecies desires to build weapons of mass destruction in our intergalactic territory. Mars does not prohibit weapons, we are a peaceful people. Nevertheless, if need be, we will move our collective Martian foot deep up earth's ass if the stink of any firearm corrupts our peaceful Martian air. I am sent here to define the Republican, the subspecies that would take such a devastating risk, as to corrupt our peaceful Martian air with "star wars" rubbish.
WHAT DO REPUBLICANS (WREEEEE--PUB--LICK--CAHHNZ) SAY ABOUT THEMSELVES?
Healthcare according to the Republicans:
The President’s health care agenda is designed to improve the accessibility, affordability and accountability of health care for every American – and to make sure that American health care keeps getting better. The President backed up this agenda with more than $300 billion in proposed funding. The Republicans are ruling this land right now, what are the forces that are keeping them from implementing their plans?
Everyone should be able to choose a health care plan that meets their needs at a price they can afford.
The President proposes to address this problem through over $117 billion in initiatives to make good health care coverage more available and affordable
Perhaps one force is the cost of the American multi-payer healthcare system. Perhaps, the other force is the strain of the uninsured and the Americans who do not pay for any healthcare, and therefore drive everybody else's prices up, because they receive health services anyway.
I wondered, why, oh why would uninsured people be treated anyway? Well, this prayer that you humans make called the "Hippocratic Oath" is just the answer, at least rhetorically.
I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures which are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism.Well, this tradition is rather bizarre. You do not turn away your sick, here on earth?
I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug....
I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.
I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.
I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.
Your doctors have to treat whoever needs treatment, anybody who pays or not. But not everybody pays for that treatment, so the people and employers who pay for that treatment pay more money than they have to, and eventually more money than they can pay at all, and then more of you pathetic earthlings lose your ability to insure your health.
So why don't the Republicans improve this situation? They can improve this situation. BUT!

GOVERNOR SCHWARZENEGGER LEADS THE INVESTIGATION OF HIMSELF
What a noble man. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is taking a back seat to nobody when it comes to making sure HE did not grope, fondle, harass or assault any women on rowdy movie sets in recent years. The liberal Republican is such a darn good, wholesome guy that he's more interested in starting an investigation of his own sexual conduct than he is in unequivocally clearing his name! Get a load of that my fine feathered friends!
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger will hire a private investigator to look into allegations that he groped women, but he may keep the results from the state attorney general, a spokesman said Thursday. If Arnold fondled a woman but didn't grope, or if he massaged, but didn't grope, will he still get in trouble? Are massages and fondlings gropes? What if Schwarzenegger pinched, grabbed, kissed, humped or tickled? If this is an investigation of the "allegations that he groped women," will could Schwarzenegger get off because those are not gropings either?
This is all so confusing!

A WOMAN'S RIGHT TO TERMINATE A PREGNANCY OR CHOOSE TO GIVE BIRTH IS BEING SAWED DOWN BY THE WASHINGTON POLITICIANS TODAY
I watched this on CNN and I almost vomited. It was absolutely sickening to hear this self-righteous excuse of a president talk about how resisting womens rights is a triumph for human rights. More than 90% of all abortions occur in the first 3 months of pregnancy. Bush says that late term abortions are not necessary for the health of a pregnant woman, but what about the rare situation when it does? Government just shouldn't have the authority to decide when a procedure is safe or not, don't medical professionals make that call better than government can?
The White House staged the ceremony, before about 400 lawmakers and abortion opponents, at a federal building named for former President Ronald Reagan, a strong supporter of anti-abortion groups. "Today at last the American people and our government have confronted the violence and come to the defense of the innocent child," he said. It's time to fight.
But even before Bush put his pen to the bill passed by Congress, a federal judge in Nebraska sharply questioned its constitutionality. U.S. District Judge Richard Kopf, at a hearing on a suit challenging the new law said, "It's probably likely I'm going to issue an injunction. I doubt it will be nationwide."
Besides Nebraska, hearings were also being held in San Francisco and New York City Wednesday on similar challenges.
Fully aware of the impending legal obstacles, Bush said, to the longest round of applause during his remarks: "The executive branch will vigorously defend this law against any who would try to overturn it in the courts."
BUSH IS GOING DOWN, NO DOUBT, BUT ITS TIME TO PUT UP A PRINCIPLED CANDIDATE TO TAKE HIM OUT!
More than four in 10 voters nationwide say they definitely plan to vote against President Bush next year — more than plan to vote for him, according to a poll released Tuesday.Great news!
